The Names have been changed, but the facts are accurate as the events outlined here are stated.
Phil and Della OldMan, the "founders" of this supposed 501(3)C "Non-Profit" Organization, accepted my offer to help in any way I could. The offer originally entailed re-designing their rather blase web site, using my custom created graphics and web pages.
After initializing this step of my help, I offered to move to nevada to help with the physical construction of the facility.
During several commuications by e-mail and ICQ on line and a few phone calls, these are the things I was told:
1. "The Well Is In and we will have water by the time you get here."
(The Water is STILL Not working!
During my stay, I was told 3-4 weeks in a row "It WILL be in next weekend!")
2. "We HAVE a generator for electricity."
(The Generator was on "Lay Away" and finally arrived over a month after I did. BUT The owner took it home every time he went to town; which was pretty much every week, after being on the property 1-2 days.
3. "Because we cannot auction the horse from the clinic, You can select the horse you want and adopt it after the clinic."
After choosing the horse at the prison facility a week before the clinic, she was brought to the clinic and "BROKEN" as predicted.
Then I was told she was too tired and stressed to move to the property for a "few days"
(Which turned into 3 weeks!) THEN when she was finally delivered to the property, WHILE still owned by WHINI, I was charged $60 for board and trailering!
4. On Tuesday, 7/11/2000, The owners arrived at the property and removed the filly, trailering her to the property of one of the Board of Directors (and a customer of "Phil's") Suposedly to prevent the State Ag. Dept. from taking her because of inadequate housing and care.
(After the Brand Inspectors had given her a "Clean Bill of Health" a few days before!)
5. NOW, After a verbal agreement made the day I left Reno, that I would NOT be liable for any Board or Vet Bills while the Filly was housed at their friend's place, I am told that I AM liable for those expenses or must forfeit my horse!
1. My Health: Suffering from Emphysema and Bronchitis,
The heat and dust were telling on my health. Having no access to electricity to use my breathalizer, I found it unwise and unhealthy to stay.
2. A friend in Southern California who, with his wife, have been more than family to me, has been diagnosed with cancer, and needs my help.
3. After spending several hundred dollars of my limited income on RANCH materials and tools, and receiving no acknowledgement, gratitude or thanks, I realized my efforts were being wasted on what is a "LostCause".
4. After having to use my own vehicle and gas to haul water for my filly, I could no longer afford the cost of remaining to help.
5. After the owner's "source" for Posts and other materials was exposed as a federal offense and subject to Federal Prison, they ran out of money to continue.
6. Although there was no money for supplies, Della & Phil (when he was in town) and she alone when he wasn't, ate at restuarants; and they had the agreement that if she had money to gamble, he had to have money to buy marijuana!
7. He was growing marijuana in the mobile home on the property; another prison offense!
